I appreciate this book for clearly laying out the compelling reasons, arising from the author's real experience, that we all have to accept responsibility, to plan carefully and then to take action to insure the protection of ourselves and our loved ones.By presenting this well documented trail of failures in the execution of our immigration policies missteps in our legal systems and the destructive results, despite good intentions, of people who create "sanctuaries", the author has brought the tragic consequences into the light as she traces the path her assailant followed to reach her back door that morning.
Surviving her horrifying ordeal, she shares, in precise detail, what she did and why she survived. I have sent the link for this book to my daughter with the hope that, although I have led her to the water many times, this time, with this compelling story, she will take a drink... and take action.

It's a quick read, but the story will linger in your mind long after. I was not only glad I purchased it for myself, I even mailed a few copies to friends.
A great read. The mental and physical strength of Dr. Hand-Gonzales is remarkable. What I love about this book is it tells the whole story. I know the subject of gun ownership is a very hot topic. I encourage people on both sides of the issue to read this book. Thank you, Dr. Hand-Gonzales, for sharing your story!
Riveting! Dr. Hand-Gonzalez is truly a survivor. It was difficult to read her harrowing account of facing evil close up.I can't imagine her fear, and the courage it took to face evil in the sanctity of her home. The book is honest, real and brave. It's a real account of listening to one's intuition, using all available resources and allowing yourself to heal. This book moved me. It's a testament to inner strength and will to live. I pray the book encourages others to listen to that tiny voice and trust God to lead us to safety. Everyone should read this account. It's inspiring!
Fantastic read - a necessary read in the age we are living in. Concealed carry? My next step. My husband already has his. But honestly, the impressions and premonitions the author had initially to me were "God-winks" - for protection.
This is a story that needs to be widely shared with government officials in "Sanctuary Cities" and those protesting stronger immigration standards. ICE failed to monitor this predator and sanctuary cities did not report his felonious behavior to ICE. This allowed him to move illegal from state to state stalking and victimizing innocent women as they caught his fancy.
This cannot be allowed to continue. Thank God she was armed and proficient at self protection! The government needs to take a good long look at immigration policies and this is what needs to be protested. This is not an isolated incident as seen by the chaos caused by immigrants in Europe and even the upper mid-west. We need our handguns, especially women. Our lives may someday depend on them as in Dr. Hand-Gonzales 's case. Protect our second ammendment rights.
I recommend this book to any woman that wants to learn how to survive an attack. Dr. Hand-Gonzales is a role model, exemplary and highly intelligent woman that fought for her life and understood how to react in a split of a second. Who are those predators? How does the justice system works or fail? Be a survivor! Read this book and learn how to make America safer starting with you
Having met Christine Hand-Gonzales briefly in the Atlanta Airport awaiting a plane, she told me about her book. I could not wait to read it on my . Having just finished it, I am feeling many things. I realize I must be more alert, having once been threatened by a gunman many years ago. But also this book explains legal systems, immigration problems and of course the controversial Sanctuary Cities and how they seem to enable illegal immigrants. How our laws for this need to be better enforced. Being a firm believer in gun for personal safety I appreciate how the "carry" law is and should be allowed. I appreciate this book so much and all the valuable information and the need for me to personally be more aware. I also believe faith is a contributing factor to our reactions and in that same light I believe our chance and very short meeting in the airport and the mention I was from Nebraska lead me to book that should be read by all women. Thank you so much Christine.
